Janice Mae (Hoitt) Cassidy, 85, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Lynn, MA to the late Leslie and Stella (Wojciechowski) Hoitt. Janice was a graduate of South Hadley High School. She was employed as a secretary for many years at Savage Arms in the Credit Department. Janice was very active in her community, she was a communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, as well as a member of the Rosary Sodality there, she was also a member of the Springfield Catholic Women’s Club, a volunteer at the Westfield Senior Center, and a member of the Westfield Women’s Club, and TOPS. Janice loved crafts, quilting and making jewelry. She knitted hundreds of hats and scarfs for the homeless and hundreds of caps for the babies in NICU. She loved flowers and gardening and enjoyed many winters in Florida walking on the beach collecting shells. Janice was pre-deceased by her loving sisters Arlene Wilson and Kathy Hoitt. Janice is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, James J. Cassidy, her four loving children; Joseph J. Cassidy of Jacksonville FL, Donna M. Cassidy of Simsbury CT, Michael J. Cassidy of Plymouth NH, and Daniel J. Cassidy of Feeding Hills MA, and her brother James Hoitt and his wife Maureen of Maryland. She is missed by her grandchildren: Eric, Hope, Hannah, Mike, Chelsea, Melissa, Robert, Dillon and Shannon and great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Cassidy, Abby, Emma, Samuel, Enrique, Madison, Benjamin, Gracie, Natalie and James. Janice shared her passions with her grandchildren and loved ones and will live on in memories and the beautiful creations she inspires. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday April 16th from 2-5 PM in the funeral home. Her funeral will be held on Monday April 17th at 10AM in the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield followed by a Mass 11AM Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127, Holyoke Rd.
