Janina (Osika) Janke, 99, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Holyoke Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Donbas, Russia to the late John and Olga (Kozachenko) Osika. Post WWII, Janina and her husband Henry Janke immigrated to the United States and proudly became naturalized citizens in 1957. She and Henry loved America and were forever grateful to raise their family in Westfield. Sadly, Janina was predeceased by her beloved husband Henry Janke in 1993. Janina was a founding member of the Slovak Pentecostal Church in West Springfield and remained an active member throughout her lifetime. She served as the treasurer for many years, and was instrumental in helping new immigrants get settled in the country. She kept in touch with all of the families she helped. Janina loved spending time with her family, tending to all her beautiful flowers, enjoyed shopping, and was grateful to her sons for taking such good care of her in her later years. She is survived by her loving sons, George Janke and his wife Janet and Michael Janke and his wife Patricia, all of Westfield, her cherished grandchildren, Susan (Dan) Carter, Sandra Wood, Michelle (Rob) Henrichon, Christopher Janke, Paula (David) Pinkney, Christopher Mallory, Edward Barton, Richard Barton, and her two great grandchildren, Abby Otto and Mikayla Wood. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 11AM at Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield.
