Jean A. (Ross) Bates

Jean A. (Ross) Bates, 87, of Westfield, passed away on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2022 in York Beach, Maine surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Holyoke, MA on September 15, 1934 to the late Richard and Ruth (Weir) Ross and was a 1952 graduate of Holyoke High School. Jean worked at the switchboard for Holyoke Savings Bank, where she met the love of her life, Charles A. Bates, and they were married in 1957. She was always ready for a good game of cards, left-center-right, the occasional trip to the casino and especially Bingo. Most of all, Jean’s family was very important to her, she loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband Charles A. Bates in 2019. To cherish her memory, she leaves her son, Richard Bates and his wife Tricia, her daughter Lisa Berg and her husband Marty, her grandchildren, Leah Berg, Alex Berg, Megan Bates, Amy Bates, Carolyn Bedgood and her husband Tyler, her special cousins, Patrice Patla, Debra Hoyle and John (Jack) Weir. Visiting hours will be held from 2-4PM on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield, followed by a funeral home service at 4PM in the funeral home. Burial will be held on Wednesday May 18, 2022 at 10 AM in Evergreen Cemetery, South Hadley. www.firtionadams.com
