Joan M. Cortis, 70, died Monday, November 9, 2020 in Vibra Hospital in Leicester, MA. She was born in Springfield on June 28, 1950 to John and Flora (Chaclas) Burns. She was a 1968 graduate of Commerce High School, she received an Associate’s Degree from H.C.C and a B.A. from Westfield State College. Joan M. Cortis, 70, died Monday, November 9, 2020 in Vibra Hospital in Leicester, MA. She was born in Springfield on June 28, 1950 to John and Flora (Chaclas) Burns. She was a 1968 graduate of Commerce High School, she received an Associate’s Degree from H.C.C and a B.A. from Westfield State College. Joan worked at Barnard Rest home in Westfield and for the Association for Community Living in Springfield for 31 years as a recruitment coordinator. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and card making. She enjoyed the holidays, making dinner and playing games. She leaves her husband Brian M. Cortis of Westfield, her sons Richard Parrow Jr. of Enfield, CT, Ronald E. Parrow of Hopkington, MA, her brothers Richard Burns of Longmeadow, Thomas Burns of Flowering Branch, GA and Michael burns of FL. She also leaves her grandchildren Kyle, Nathaniel, Charlotte and Zachary Parrow and her ex-husband Richard R. Parrow Sr. of Enfield, CT. The funeral for Joan will be private due to covid.
