Joan Miemiec Obituary

J stands for joyfully jolly character throughout her entire life. You always would find a big smile on her face and positive attitude no matter what the circumstances or outcomes. Joan had open hands to serve her family & community and an open heart to love people from different walks of life.

O stands for outstanding accomplishments in life such as graduating Westfield High in 1978 where she was a star field hockey goalie and a proud bronze tablet winner. Graduated from Springfield College ready to take on the world in 1982. Married the love of her life, Paul Miemiec and had 2 girls (Megan and Mary) that they centered their world around. Her servant heart helped her care for her family members whether it was on Frederic Street, a nursing home, Stanley park or the Southwick playscape. Serving people is what made Joan’s heart come alive where she worked for Westfield Public Schools with special needs students for 14 years.

A stands for action orientated. There was nothing that Joan couldn’t accomplish. She put in 110% in everything she did. You saw the drive and passion in her eyes and the heart behind why she was so unique. From her baking cookies for bake sales to power walking her way through life, she loved hard and fought hard.

N stands for noble character that’s considered old fashion. She has no enemies since she forgives freely, courageously walked through FTD for 10 years, honesty was her best policy and she encouraged everyone to love, get along, and do the right thing. She also knew when to be serious and when to have fun while she rocked out to Bruce Springsteen.

Y stands for yielding to God’s plans for her life being a strong woman of God, devoted daughter to Frank & Irene Wojtowicz, loving sister to Edziu, Roseann, Monica & Teresa, faithful wife to Paul, one of a kind mother to Megan & Mary, fun aunt, dedicated family Member, and encouraging friend to countless folks. Her frontal temporal lobe dementia (FTD) diagnosis was an adventure that she received with grace and was a wonderful example of how one actually trusts on the lord and doesn’t Lean on their own understanding. She taught us all how to love your life no matter what happens to you.
