We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Firtion Adams Funeral Home
Karen N. Callini was a giving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully on June 6, 2022 at age 74 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
A lifelong resident of Westfield, Karen was born to the late Frank and Edna Cressotti on October 12, 1947. She graduated from Westfield State College before becoming a dedicated and passionate teacher who touched the lives of many young children, first in the Suffield, CT elementary school system and then as a preschool teacher for over twenty years in Westfield.
Karen was a talented and passionate quilter who, in addition to creating countless quilts which will live on in the homes of loved ones, formed a sisterhood with her beloved “PieceMakers” who laughed and stitched together for decades and supported each other right up to the end of Karen’s journey. Karen also enjoyed swimming with friends at the Y, gardening, visiting family in the lakes region of Italy, watching tennis and enjoying life’s little pleasures. She was a longtime parishioner at Grace Lutheran Church in West Springfield and drew comfort and strength from her faith.
Karen treasured her family above all else. She was blessed to have a love story for the ages and is survived by her lifelong love and husband of nearly 52 years, Andrew A. Callini of Westfield. Together, Karen and Andy made a life with their three children, Anthony, Carla and Nicholas before welcoming daughters-in-law, Stephanie, and Kristen into the family with open arms. She was exceptionally proud of her four granddaughters, Julia, Sabrina, Hannah and Meredith, each of whom brought an abundance of joy into her life. Karen is also survived and loved by her two brothers, Frank and Karl Cressotti, sister-in-laws, Patricia, Mary Lou, Anne and Mary Chris and so many nieces and nephews, each of whom was uniquely special to Auntie K. Finally, Karen will be survived by countless cousins, friends, acquaintances, colleagues and individuals whose lives have been touched by Karen in some way.
A service celebrating Karen’s life will be held Wednesday at 5PM at Firtion Adams, 76 Broad St. Westfield. Calling hours will precede the service from 3 to 5PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen’s name may be directed to the Gift of Life Program Supporting Patients of the Sister Caritas Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center, 271 Carew Street, Springfield, MA. https://give.mercycares.com/gift-of-light www.firtionadams.com
