Kathleen Rook Obituary

On December 11, 2024, Cathy (Baba)) Rook’s adventure here on earth ended, and her spirit traveled to her new life with God. Her earthly presence will be missed by the family she loved so dearly and nurtured continually. Her husband Fred, who shared her adventure for 62 years, along with their three daughters, Susan, Judy and Kathy, her beloved Son in laws Rich, Carl and Billy, nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Jessica, Nathan, Josh, Suzannah, Becky, Carly, Noah and Liam, and three great grandchildren Eva, Ivy and Frankie were the beneficiaries of her unending love and wisdom. Cathy was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania to the late Thomas and Suzanne McGuire. She had two wonderful brothers, Don and Tommy McGuire, both deceased. Cathy was a devout Roman Catholic, and longtime communicant of several parishes both here and in Georgia. Cathy and her husband Fred were heavily involved in the Western Ma. Cursillo movement. In 1994 Cathy and Fred moved to Georgia where they lived until 2021. She was a beloved member of the St. George family in Newnan Georgia and was involved in St. Vincent de Paul as well as serving as a Eucharistic minister.  Cathy and Fred moved back to Westfield to be closer to family, and since their return Cathy became active in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Granby. Cathy always had a passion for art and was primarily a self-taught artist. She enjoyed using a variety of mediums and was inspired by nature and the world around her for the subject of her artistic interpretation, especially travels to National parks in the western part of the country with her family. Cathy’s true gift was her unconditional love for everyone, especially her family. She was a joyful believer of living life in the present and sharing her light fully to everyone she met. From her legendary family dinners to the myriads of cards and letters as well as simple acts of kindness to strangers, everyone benefited from her profound love. Cathy truly was an angel walking in our midst. We will celebrate Cathy’s life at a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 11AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary, 256 State St. Granby, MA. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, from 4-7PM in the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085. Charitable donations in Cathy’s name may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (national office), 4550 Montgomery Ave. Suite 1100 N Bethesda, MD 20814. www.firtionadams.com
