Kurt Showalter Obituary

Kurt E. Showalter, 85 years old, born on March 11, 1934, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2020 with his family at his side at home in Chester, MA.  Dad was born in Bronx New York, and graduated from DeWitt Clinton high school also in Bronx. He leaves his wife, of 54 wonderful years, Marilyn J. Showalter, he also leaves three children, daughter Elaine Jacquier, her husband Phil, son Karl Showalter, his wife Kristy, daughter Kristine Mitchell and her significant other Andy Delnickas, all of his grandchildren, Amy Sadowski and her husband John Sadowski , Brandon Mitchell, his significant other Nicole Fecteau, William Defocie, Stone Mitchell, Arya-Jane Mitchell, Alyxa-Ray Showalter, Abagayle Showalter, and his great-grandchildren Bently Mitchell, Payton Mitchell and Claire Sadowski. He served in the Army as a private in the mechanics division with Honorable Discharge, in January 1963.  After attending mechanics school, he opened up an Esso gas station and there he met his wife Marilyn. Mom and Dad were married, they built a home and raised their 3 children in Westbrook, CT. After retiring from driving tractor trailers thru the entire United States, always sending his family post cards from his location, they decide to move out to the country and buy a farm which they named "Angel Mist Farm". Dad loved his trains, toys and collectibles, enjoyed watching Barret Jackson, Mecum car auctions, Mash, and his game shows.  He loved being a Patriot Fan, and a big fan of the New York Yankees. Dad also loved gardening, and taking care of his indoor house plants. His family will always remember his joke telling humor.  Dad will be truly missed and loved forever by his entire family and friends. Services will be held at Firtion Adams, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA 01085, March 7th, 2020 at 1:00 to 3:00 pm, burial will be private. www.firtionadams.com
