Laurel J. Smith

Laurel Justine Smith, 67, passed away at home on Friday, November 29, 2024. She was born in Westfield to the late Oren and Norma (Justine) Smith. Laurel received her bachelor’s degree with Honors in English from Westfield State University. She worked as a technical inspector for ITT Tech for many years. Laurel loved being outdoors, enjoyed hiking and fishing. She loved writing poetry, writing music and songs and playing guitar. Laurel was also a lover of animals, especially cats and volunteered at the Westfield Homeless Cat Project. She is survived by her brothers, Philip Smith of Celebration, FL, Paul Smith of Lutz, FL and Dave Smith of Westfield and was the favorite aunt to her eight nieces and nephews. Celebration of Laurel’s life will be held on Thursday from 4-6 PM in the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.
