Lucille Paul Obituary

“A beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend — Lucy was adored by all who knew her, forever winning hearts with her sweet spirit and gift for laughter.

Lucille Therese Gagnon, born February 21, 1928, in Holyoke, MA, to Armand and Rita (Archambeault) Gagnon traded her earthly walk for her heavenly wings on March 31, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of faith and love.

From her earliest years, Lucy was full of life— gliding across frozen ponds, launching snowballs, dressing up stray cats to push in her carriage, and spending golden summers at the camp her father built with his own hands.

Lucy attended Catholic school then worked at Whiting Paper Mill in Holyoke. She later worked at Acme Chain before proudly stepping into the role she considered her most meaningful: homemaker. She poured herself into that calling with the same energy and intention she brought to everything she touched.

It was at the roller skating rink where she met her great love - Henry “Tucker” Paul. Living in Miami, prior to nesting in the foothills of the Berkshires, where they raised their three children. The Paul home rang with laughter; holidays were Lucy’s stage. She hosted with warmth and flair, and everyone felt welcomed. She lived with an open heart and forward-looking spirit, never one to dwell on the past. Summers at Matunuck, RI brought the extended family together for beach days, cookouts, games, and the kind of unhurried joy that stays with you. In her later years she embraced the snowbird life in Florida, quickly filling her days with new friends.

Faith anchored Lucy’s life. A devoted Catholic and communicant of St. Mary’s for 60+ years, she approached religion with genuine curiosity and a hunger to learn. She had an artist’s soul — always crafting, redecorating, or reimagining something. That creative energy propelled her happily through many shopping trips. She was a passionate defender of animals and supported their causes with conviction. A fierce competitor, skilled candlepin bowler, Lucy played cribbage, Sequence, cards, dominoes, darts. She was decisive and loved with everything she had. Lucy traveled the country with her daughter, hand-stitching costumes, cheering her on through baton tournaments. She was the world’s finest and funniest storyteller. Life seemed to deliver its most extraordinary moments directly to her, and she never wasted one of them!

Lucy is lovingly survived by her children David Paul, wife Barbara, Sandra Bremer, husband Greg, Kimberly Doro, husband Vado; and cherished grandchildren Lee Bremer, Eric Jason and Corey Paul, and Zélia Doro; five great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives were made richer for knowing her.

Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved husband and soulmate, Henry “Tucker” Paul, sisters Cecile Gagnon and Annette Beaulieu, and brothers Raymond and Eugene Gagnon.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 9th with calling hours from 9:00 – 11:00 at Firtion Adams Funeral Home in Westfield followed by a Catholic Mass at St. Mary’s at 11:30 a.m. and burial at Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 1:00 p.m.
