Maria M. Otero, 95, of Westfield, Ma, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, in the Hospital with her daughter by her side, holding her hand. She was born on November 30, 1930 in Cayey, PR, to Enrique Lopez and Francisca Rivera Lopez. She moved to Westfield as a young woman, and was a life long parishioner at St.Mary’s Parish. In her life she had a strong devotion to the Virgin Mary she was a part of the Hijas de Maria in Puerto Rico, the Confradas at St. Mary’s, as well as Schonstat. She prayed the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet daily. She was a beloved wife, mother, tia, abuela, and abuelita. Maria was known for her sense of humor, sweet smile, strength, and dedication to faith and family. She found joy in spending time with her loved ones and making those around her smile. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Norberto Otero, her daughter Carmen M. Larriu, son-in-law Angel T. Larriu, five cherished grandchildren, and six beloved great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, and all of their children whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her daughter Maria “Cuchi” Otero, and her six siblings. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A wake will be held on Friday, December 5 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Firtion Adam’s Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, Ma. A Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, December 6 at 10:30am, at St. Mary’s Church, 30 Bartlett Street, Westfield, Ma.
