Mary E. (Morris) Parody

Mary Parody (Morris), 82, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on April 24th.    A permanent resident of Westfield, she graduated from Westfield High School and went on to earn her nursing degree.  She was employed as an RN at Western Massachusetts Hospital, assisting with terminally ill patients before becoming a stay-at-home mom to five children.  She was a lifelong parishioner of St Mary’s Parish and served on the Parish Counsel for nearly 10 years.  Mary also served on the City of Westfield’s Off-street Parking Commission. Mary adored her grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with her family, singing along to her favorite music and spending countless days throughout summers at her cottage in Point O’ Woods in Connecticut.  She always loved a good book and playing cards with a whiskey sour and a bit of ice cream, but being involved and watching her childrens’ sporting events was most important to her.  Traveling from the gym to the pool, the fields and hockey rinks was her full-time job and passion. She is predeceased by her loving husband Frank M. Parody of 43 years, her three brothers Michael, William and Charles Morris.  She is survived by her five children Michael Parody and wife Cheryl of East Greenwich, RI, Karen Taylor and her husband Bruce of Pittsfield, MA, Kathy Leary and her husband Jim of Londonderry, NH, Susan Mayhew and her husband Doug of Moore, SC, Amy Smith and her husband Todd of Westfield, MA.  She leaves 11 grandchildren, Lauren, Ben, Matt, Eddie, Eric, Ryan, Kassie, Suzie, Claire, Tighe and Nora.  Her four great-grandchildren, Bentley, Ellie, Adeline and Amelia along with many nieces and nephews round out her family. Calling hours for Mary will be Sunday May 2, 2021 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Mary on Monday May 3, 2021 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Bartlett Street, Westfield with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Road, Westfield to follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) and Brightside for Families and Children (www.trinityhealthofne.org).
