Mary Scavotto Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Mary Louise Pioggia Scavotto, who left us on March 26, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on October 13, 1947, and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts. Mary also found great joy in her condo in Deerfield Beach, Florida, where she made countless memories with those she loved. Mary leaves behind her devoted husband of 60 years, John “UJ” Scavotto, her high school sweetheart, and her beloved sons, John Jr. (“John-John”) and Anthony, along with her cherished daughter-in-law, Pernille. She was a proud grandmother to Giana, who was like a daughter to her, Giana’s Fiancé Ryan, Kayla and Connor, and a loving great-grandmother to Mateo, with whom she shared a special bond. Mary is also survived by her two sisters, Sherry and Patty, and a large, loving family, including numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was adored by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Mary joins in heaven her beloved mom and dad, Emma and Nicholas, her late sister, Antoinette, her nephew Larry “Choochie,” and her two late dogs, Rocco and Tia, whom she met at the Rainbow Bridge. A woman of many cherished qualities, Mary was known for her exceptional cooking and baking skills, especially her "famous" meatballs, which will live on in the hearts and kitchens of those she loved. She had a passion for animals, shopping, the beach, and the casino. Above all, she will be remembered for her deep loyalty, sharp wit, wisdom, and her protective and caring nature. Mary’s love for her family and her Italian heritage ran deep. As the "boss of the family," she was a source of strength, guidance, and joy. Her family’s recipes and traditions will live on, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who knew her. Mary's life was a beautiful testament to what it means to love and care for others, and she will forever be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 2 from 10 am till 12 noon at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Burial will be private. Firtionadams.com
