Mary Zyra Obituary

Mary Theresa (Cymes) Zyra, 95, passed away peacefully on October 30th at Vantage of Westfield with her loving husband by her side. Mary was born in Easthampton, MA on January 4, 1930 to a large and loving family. She was the youngest of eight children born to the late Alexander Cymes and Mary Wadroski Cymes. Mary grew up in Easthampton and was educated at the Sacred Heart Catholic school system. After graduating High School she went to work at Stanley Home Products in Easthampton where she was an inspector. While at Stanley Home products she met the love of her life, Michael Zyra Jr. They married on May 1, 1965 and have enjoyed 60 years together. Mary and Mike built their dream home in Westfield where they lived happily together until Mary’s passing. Mary was a devoted catholic and was a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield. She never missed a service if she could help it. Family was very important to Mary and she was very proud of the fact that one of her sisters became a Nun. Mary loved children and enjoyed being around and interacting with her many nieces and nephews. In her free time Mary enjoyed needlepoint and reading good books until her eyesight gave out. She and Mike enjoyed traveling, especially going on bus trips. They also enjoyed going out to eat several times a week. Left to cherish Mary’s memory is her loving and devoted husband Michael. She also leaves her nieces Monica Kuniey Hanson (Peter), Martha Cymes Wholthman, and Debra Cymes Tines as well as her nephews Richard Hanlon (Maryann), David Cymes, Jamie Cymes, Jeffrey Zyra (Katy), Gary Zyra and Jonathan Zyra. She also leaves her sister in law Margaret Zyra and many great nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Mary Cymes and her siblings Joseph Cymes, Stanley Cymes, Anthony and Marilyn Cymes, sister Mary Fabian Cymes, Jessie Cymes Kuniey and Fred Kuniey, Connie Cymes Pacocha and Stanley Pacocha and Jean Cymes Hanlon and Robert Hanlon and her brother in law Richard Zyra.
