Maxine S (Hurteau) Babbie

Maxine S. Babbie, 81, of Westfield, Ma., passed away on Wednesday 8:00 pm, September 15, 2021.

Maxine was born on May 10, 1940 in Constable, NY. The daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (McCallum) Hurteau. Sister Kesiah (William) Henophy. She attended and graduated from Massena High School.

Maxine married Donald W. Babbie on May 23, 1981 in Burnt Hills, NY. Maxine enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially loved Thanksgiving and Christmas with family and friends.

Maxine enjoyed baton twirling and band in early years, in later years she enjoyed collecting a variety of antiques and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchild and keeping tabs on them all. She always liked to be present at their activities.

Maxine always welcomed you with a smile and a big hug, she was always cooking and baking and loved to provide for others and did so at many family gatherings. Everyone always left her home with more than they came with.

Maxine is survived by her beloved husband Donald of 40 years; Five children, Predeceased by Harold (Robin) of Colton, NY, Michael of Greece NY, Steven (Myra) of Lexington, KY. Robert (Jennifer) of Feeding Hills, Ma., Jason (Frank) of Manhattan NY.

Nine grandchildren, Jamy (Josh) Gagnon, Catherine and Allison, Lydia (Caleb), Stewart and Mariella, Kyle and Kayla and one great grandchild, Mya.

Friends may call on Tuesday September 21 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm, with a memorial service starting at 6:30 pm at the Firton-Adams Funeral Home 76 Broad St. Westfield Ma.
