Michael Allen Fenton, 68, of Southwick, passed away at home on November 10th after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael was born in Northampton, MA to Eugene R. and Nancy J. (Savage) Fenton. He graduated from Southwick High School in 1976 and went on to work for Old Colony Envelope Company. Michael was passionate about cars and loved tinkering with them, attending car shows, and most of all, driving them. Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it was carrying on the family tradition of grinder making with his daughter, watching football with his son-in-law, or playing with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He enjoyed annual family vacations on Cape Cod and being near the ocean. Michael was proud to have several years of sobriety. Before falling ill, he worked for the Phoenix House in Holyoke where he found purpose in helping others struggling with substance use disorder. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Susan J. (Thompson) Fenton; his brothers Eugene (Misty) H. Fenton of Nome, AK; Peter (Scott) Fenton of Southwick, MA; Todd A. Fenton of Southwick, MA; and his sister Virginia (Ginger) F. Dolan-Nystrom of Olanta, SC. Michael will be sorely missed by his loving daughter, Colleen M. Fenton, her partner Nicholas W. LaBelle, and his two beloved grandchildren, Charlotte Rose LaBelle and Henry Oliver-Nichols LaBelle of Holyoke, MA. He also leaves his cousins Kathy of Springfield, VA and Georgia (Gigi) Bourne of Bourne, MA, whom he especially enjoyed reconnecting with over the last several years.
A small graveside service will be held at the New Cemetery in Southwick, MA on November 20th, 2025 at 11am. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Cooley Dickinson Oncology department and Baystate Hospice services.
