Nelson E West, Sr

Nelson E. West, Sr. 87, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Westfield to the late Albert and Emma (Rabtor) West. Nelson was bigger than life.  He loved his family and annual picnics, sports and a good joke, but could hardly tell one without laughing.  He truly enjoyed getting together as he was the life of a party. He will truly be missed by all who know him.  Please cherish his memory and thanks to everyone who helped him on his final journey.  Take care of each other, till we meet again. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Diane M. West of Westfield, his children, Nelson E. West, Jr of West Springfield, Nonna M. West of West Springfield, Thomas D. West of Florida, Michael F. West of Florida, Pamela J. Brown and her husband Jeffrey of Agawam and Stefanie A. Hersom and her husband Skip of Belchertown, Kimberly of Chicopee and Steven of Florida, his seven surviving siblings, Francis West of Texas, Marilyn Starzyk of Westfield, Kenneth West of CT, Harold West of Idaho, Raymond West of Westfield, Edward West of Huntington and James West of Easthampton, eight grandchildren, Shaun, Logan, Sydney, Emily, Zachary, Delaney ,Jonathan and Ashley and three great grandchildren, Charlotte, Bennett and Bradley. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10AM in Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by burial in Forestdale Cemetery, Cabot St. Holyoke.
