Nilda Medina, 69, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Baystate Medical Center with the comfort of her two close friends Lorrie Bobe and Bob Desroches. She was born in Manhattan, NY to the late Heriberto and Jacinta (Estrada) Medina. She attended the Frances Perkins program at Mt. Holyoke College and received her Bachelor’s Degree from UMASS UWW Amherst. Nilda was employed as a case worker for the Department of Youth Services for over 20 years. She was predeceased by a sister Irma and is survived by her twin brother Nelson Medina and a sister Rosie of New York. She had many nieces and nephews and was closest to her nephew Jacinto Medina of Brooklyn, New York. Nilda was an avid reader and collector of books. She loved to write and was known for having more than one journal or date book at any given time. She was also a “thinker” always allowing time to research and make educated decisions in all areas of her life. She loved to travel and had planned to take many trips upon retirement 4 years ago. She was independent, strong and a fighter to the very end! Visiting hours for Nilda will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 4-7PM in the Firtion-Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085.
