Patricia Ann (Vedovelli) Rix

Patricia Ann (Vedovelli) Rix’s well-lived life came to a peaceful close on February 25, 2025 in Westfield, MA. Born on April 12, 1934 in Springfield, MA, she was the cherished daughter of Anthony and Winifred (Biglin) Vedovelli. Patricia’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication to nurturing and caring for those in need. A graduate of the High School of Commerce in Springfield, Pat pursued a career in nursing, earning her R.N. degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and a BSN degree from St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine. Her nursing career spanned close to forty years at Westfield State College, where she retired as the Director of Health Services. Patricia was married to her beloved husband, Reign Rix for 67 years before he passed away in 2023. Together they raised a family and built a life based on hard work and service to others yet, balanced by enduring memories of fun and adventure. Pat especially loved the beach and sharing times with family and friends at the beach cottage in Ocean Park, Maine. Patricia is survived by her children Ronald Rix (Renee), Deborah Maloney (William), Mary Huth (Brian) and Anthony Rix. She was thrilled to be “Nonni” to her treasured 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brothers John Vedovelli, Anthony Vedovelli, Jr. and William (Roberta) Vedovelli. She will be missed by her beloved nieces, relatives, and many life-long friends and neighbors. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Southwick Village Assisted Living for the compassionate care provided to Pat in her final months. Known for her strong and independent spirit, as well as her warm and generous heart, Patricia found joy and purpose in her Catholic faith, which guided her through life’s joys and challenges. In lieu of calling hours, friends and family are invited to celebrate her transition to eternal life at a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Rd., Westfield, MA on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 11:30 AM. Internment will follow at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Agawam at 1:00 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to the Reign D. and Mary E.
