Patricia Anne (Russell) Smart

Patricia Anne Russell Smart, (76), formally of Westfield, MA, passed away on Jan. 21st, after a long illness. Patricia was born in Winchendon on May 30, 1946 to George I. Russell of New Brunswick, Canada and Anna (Pursik) Russell of Greenfield. After Patricia graduated from Athol High School in 1964, she went on to work at L.S. Starrett in Athol and J.C. Penney in Westfield and Holyoke for many years. She resided her last two years at Greenfield Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Patricia was married to Donald N. Smart from 1968 until his passing in 1980. Soon after their marriage, Donald transferred to Westfield and they made it their home. Patricia was predeceased by her husband and her parents. She is survived by her younger brother, Thomas Russell and his wife Barbara, her niece Jennifer Riethl and husband, Mark, their two children, Sebastian and Wyatt, and her nephew, Matthew Russell and wife Jennifer. She also will be missed by her dear friend Patricia Anne Turner of Granville, who cared for her for many years. Anyone who knew Pat knows the love and devotion she had for her dogs and cats. Her artistic talent was remarkable and was evident in the interior design of her home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
