Philomena “Philly” Gajda, 75, of Westfield Ma, was called home on Tuesday July 20th 2021. She passed away to eternal life surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield Ma on Feb 28th 1946 to late John and Raffella (Fabrocini) Pirro. She graduated from Springfield technical high school in 1963, and was also graduate of Springfield College receiving a BA degree in sociology. Philomena was a member of the Holy Trinity church of Westfield. She worked as a dedicated social worker for The Hill Agency, Greater Springfield Senior Services, Noble Hospice and Noble Hospital. She was also a medical oncology social worker for the Sister Caritas Cancer Center Mercy Hospital. She received numerous commendations for her outstanding service and devotion to her patients. Philomena will always be remembered for her bold and stylish sense of fashion and for her fancy fingernail designs. She was a devoted hockey mom and thoroughly enjoyed watching her sons play at all levels. The impression Philomena left on her patients was long lasting for many years. Philomena will be deeply missed by her loving husband and best friend of 43 years Robert “Bobby” Gajda of Westfield; Her 2 sons Tyson Gajda and his wife Lindsay Gajda of Waterford NY and Torry Gajda and Emilie Gajda of Westfield. She is survived by her sister Joanne Lucas of Springfield and predeceased by her brother James Pirro of Agawam. Philomena also leaves her 3 adored grandchildren Giuliana, Jaxon, and Giovanni Gajda. Philomena showed unconditional love for her grandchildren who were the pride and joy and light of her life. She also leaves numerous dear friends and co-workers. The family would like to thank the many exceptional dr’s, nurses and aid’s that cared for her during her illness. Calling hours will be held on Friday July 23rd from 4-7pm and also a funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday July 24th. Both will be held at Firtion- Adams Funeral Home 76 Broad Street Westfield, Ma. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Philomena’s memory to the Padre Pio foundation of America in Cromwell Ct, and the St Jude Childrens Research Hospital. www.firtionadams.com
