Richard “Dick” Flory Scorzafava 1946-2024, Westfield. Richie, as his family called him, passed away after a short hospitalization at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was 78 years old. Born in Springfield, Mass on July 24, 1946, he was the son of the late Flory and Olive (Ward) Scorzafava. He was a graduate of Asnuntuk Community College and attended Springfield Technical High School. Richie worked for over 40 years at Hamilton Sundstrand in Windsor Locks, CT as a supervisor. He is also well known as an avid outdoor sportsman and lover of wildlife and the outdoors. For over 30 years he presented seminars at the Springfield Sportsman Shows and at many other venues where he shared his knowledge and love of the sport of hunting. He belonged to various outdoor sportsman related organizations including the Pope and Young, Boone and Crocket, Safari International Club, Ducks Unlimited and many more. He was a member of the Outdoors Writers of America and the New England Outdoor Writers. He has written several books on his favorite past time as he was tagged “The Radical Hunter” in his television show of the same name. He traveled the world in his hunting pursuits and his numerous trophies appear in the record books. Richie will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Lorelie White Scorzafava, his son Tony, and his daughter Lauren, a sister Elizabeth Bailey, and nieces and nephew from Washington state, and pets, Penny Lane, Yuki, and Turbo. Visitation hours will be held at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield from 4-7 P.M. on Friday, September 6, with a memorial Mass Saturday September 7, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, Westfield.
