Ronald H. Ferron, Sr. 90, of Westfield, MA passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024 in the company of his loving wife, Sophie, and dear friend, Phil Cranford. He was born on January 7, 1934 in Southbridge, Mass. to the late Elise and Henry Ferron. His brothers Robert and Roger and sisters Vivian and Aline preceded him in death. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sophie (Swiatek) Ferron and his three children: William (Amanda) of Springfield, Mass., Elizabeth McClung (Robert) of Salado, Texas, and Natalie of North Palm Beach, Florida. He was predeceased by his son, Ronald H. Ferron, Jr. in 2005. He was also the proud Pepere to his seven beloved grandchildren: NIcholas, Charles, Emily, and Rose Ferron, Matthew and Katherine McClung, and Benjamin Germano, as well as one great grandson, George Bailey Ferron. He also leaves behind several dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ronald was a graduate of Assumption Preparatory School in Worcester where classes were taught in French, the language of his heritage. After graduating from high school he began his career as a machinist. He worked at Advance Manufacturing for several years before opening his own business, Center Machine, in Ludlow. Ronald will be remembered as a generous employer and honest businessman. He was a passionate fan of all New England sports teams and a devoted parishioner of Holy Trinity Church. He also loved playing golf and watching harness horse racing. He lived in Jupiter, Florida for more than 25 winters and enjoyed many summers in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. We will fondly remember his sense of humor, quick wit, and “joie de vivre”. The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Baystate Hospice and Armbrook Village for their exceptional care during the last days of Ronald’s life. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 31 at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield.
