It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Samuel Harry Booher, who passed away at Baystate Medical Center. Born December 22, 1942, in Mount Union, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Kenneth Hugh Booher and Mary Kay Brumbaugh. A 1961 graduate of Mount Union High School, Sam honorably served in the U.S. Air Force with the 99th Bomb Wing, Strategic Air Command (SAC), from 1961 to 1965. Following his military service, he enjoyed a distinguished career with the Farm Credit Banks of Springfield, retiring in 1995, and later worked as an agent for The Prudential Life Insurance Company until 1998. A longtime resident of Westfield, Sam was a passionate cribbage player for more than 50 years, a talented fiddler with the Pioneer Valley Fiddlers, and an avid golfer and coin collector. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Jacquelyn A. Booher (Lafond) of Westfield; his children Stephen A. Booher and his wife Lorraine Strong of Russell; John K. Booher and his wife Tami of State College, PA; Thomas C. Booher of Westfield; Timothy J. Booher and Mary Sienkiewicz of Westfield; and Kathryn A. Booher of Westfield. He also leaves behind grandchildren Ashley and Colleen, daughters of Stephen; Alyshia Horvath, daughter of Lorraine, whom Stephen considers his own, with her husband Travis Wolfe and their children Lily Ryan, Jack Ryan, and Willow Wolfe; Jessica, daughter of John and Tami; and Timothy, son of John. Sam also adored his great-grandson Stetson, son of Colleen and her husband Matt Putnam. Sam is also survived by his brother William D. Booher of Mount Union, PA. He was predeceased by his sister Martha K. Booher (1985) and brother James K. Booher (2015). Calling hours will be held Friday, November 28th, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, Westfield. Burial will be private for close family.
