Sharon L. (Frisbie) Tompkins, 77, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Westfield to the late Robert and Cleo (Pressnell) Frisbie. Sharon received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education from Westfield State University and worked as a preschool teacher for both Head Start and the Westfield YMCA, and also taught at  Highland Elementary for many years. She was also involved with Camp Togowauk, starting as a counselor and ending up as director. Sharon loved to travel with her husband Frank around the USA, especially Maine and Virginia, Sharon loved to travel with her husband Frank around the  USA, especially Maine and Virginia, and Europe. Just even a day trip in the car was an adventure. She coached some of her students, with intellectual and physical disabilities at the Park and Rec in soccer, basketball and T-ball. Additionally, Sharon loved crafts, scrapbooking and stamping. Sharon is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Franklin E. Tompkins, her three daughters, Dannielle L. Tompkins, Aimee C. Tompkins, and Erika M. Burgess (David), all of Westfield. A sister Susan Ellinger (Gary) of Southampton. Five grandchildren, Christine Tompkins of Albany, NY, Kyle Engley of Biloxi, MS, Collin Engley of Warwick, RI, Ian Burgess and Norah Burgess of Westfield, one great grandson Quentin Slater and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, James and John Frisbie. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 11AM in the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA 01085 followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Western Ave, Westfield, MA. Visiting hours will precede the service from 9-11AM in the funeral home.
