Sherry A. Bessette “Dollface”, 67, passed away peacefully in her home, holding the hands of her loving family, on October 23, 2023, after a long courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Sherry was raised in Agawam, MA and graduated from Agawam High School in 1974. Shortly after graduation, she met the love of her life and was whisked away to Fairfax, CA for a west coast adventure they will never forget. She then found her way back to Massachusetts, raised a beautiful family, and devoted 41 years to her job as a Customer Service Representative at Dirats Laboratories. She spent her days doing logic puzzles, gardening, painting, and spending time with family and friends. She loved traveling the world, most recently traveling to Madeira, Portugal. Most of all, she loved sitting on her backyard deck, overlooking the beautiful Buck Pond, sipping rye with her husband.
Sherry had a positive energy and outlook that was contagious. She loved the small things in life and never took her family and friends for granted. Her spirit and joy will be missed tremendously by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hal “Bumpa” and Merle Stanton of Agawam, MA. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Leslie Bessette of Westfield, MA, her daughter, Ashley Levy, her son-in-law Mark Levy of Finksburg, MD and their two sons Austin and Adrian Levy who called her Grammie; and her son Austin Bessette and his fiancé Becky Chan of Portland, OR. She also leaves behind many extended family who loved her dearly, particularly sisters-in-laws Peggy Mercadante and Denise Bessette who were more like sisters, and nieces Michelle Willey and Danielle Drouin whose relationships she cherished dearly.
Services will be held at Firtion Adams Funeral Home in Westfield, MA on Friday October 27th. Visiting hours 1:00-3:30 with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to D’Amour Cancer Center in Springfield, MA to whom the family is forever grateful for the excellent care and compassion given to Sherry. www.firtionadams.com
