Shirley A. (Sullivan) Ribeiro, 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Feeding Hills, MA, on December 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 9, 1932, in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Mary Angela (Hearn) and David D. Sullivan, and sister of the late Rita (Sullivan) Bezner, David Sullivan, James Sullivan, and Charles Sullivan. A proud 1950 graduate of Dominican Academy, Shirley treasured her academic accomplishments. She began her career at the Providence Journal as an administrative assistant and later worked at American International College, where she eventually retired from the same role. Never one to stop learning, Shirley fulfilled a lifelong dream after retirement by returning to school and earning her associate’s degree in liberal arts from AIC, an achievement she celebrated deeply. In 1961, Shirley married the love of her life, Joaquim “Jack” Ribeiro, who pre-deceased her in January 2013. Together, they built a warm and welcoming home in Feeding Hills, where they raised their three children and shared nearly 52 years of marriage. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and, most recently, a delighted great-grandmother. Her life was grounded in her love for family and the simple joys that brought her comfort. An avid reader, she found peace among her many bookcases overflowing with well-loved books. Her home was the center of countless cherished memories, especially Sunday dinners with her family. A long-time member of the Agawam Library Book Club, Shirley cherished the friendships and conversations she found there. Her family will forever picture her in her favorite chair, a cup of Red Rose tea in hand, lost in a good book. To all who knew her, Shirley was extraordinary; intelligent, well-read, quick-witted, and blessed with a memorable sense of humor. Shirley is survived by her three daughters: Judith Cosby (Craig), Carol Ribeiro Groom (William), and Mary Beth Rzegocki (Mathew); her grandchildren, Sarah Cosby, Catherine Mark (Taylor), Caroline Rzegocki, and Willow Rzegocki; and her great-grandson, Brian Mark. She was pre-deceased by an infant son, Joaquim. She also leaves behind her furry friend, Freddie, aka Flash, and a feathered companion, Max. Shirley’s legacy of love, strength, and wisdom will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Firtionadams.com
