Stephen R. (Red) Fallon was born September 17, 1928, in Westfield, MA to Stephen and Mary Blanch (Carr) Fallon.   Red graduated from Westfield High School in 1946 where he played both hockey & baseball.  Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army on June 29, 1946.  Red served in the Pacific Theater, lastly in Korea and was honorably discharged May 22, 1948.  Red was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan.

Upon his return from military service, Red began a 38-year career with the United States Post Office in Westfield, MA.  On June 19, 1954, Red married Marilyn Murphy from Chicopee, MA and together they had 4 children:  Colleen O’Connor (Dennis), Jean Pescitelli (Joseph), Ellen Wojtowicz (Edward) and William Fallon (Tina). Red & Marilyn had 12 grandchildren: Jonathan, Jason, Eric, Andrew, Joseph, Angela, Matthew, Shayne, Faith, Kerrigan & Aidan.  In addition, Red & Marilyn have 14 great grandchildren:  Rieghan, Madison, Jacob, Luke. Jonathan, Colleen, Gabriel, Gavin, Brookelynn, Jaxson, Charlotte, Alexandria, Harper and Dominic.

Red was pre-deceased by his wife of 57 years Marilyn, his oldest daughter Colleen, his parents Stephen & Blanch, his brother William, his grandson Nicholas Pescitelli, and his son’s in law Dennis O'Connor & Joseph Pescitelli.   

Red and his family resided on Putnam Drive in Westfield for over 60 years where they saw their children & grandchildren grow up swimming in their pool, having countless family parties and hosting some serious wiffleball games.

Red was a long time serving member of American Legion, Post 124, and the Sons of Erin in Westfield.  Red’s friends were endless and he had a very large extended family of both Fallons and Murphys.  For nearly 20 years, Red hosted the ‘Red Fallon Open” golf tournament where family & friends from around the country would come to play.  Red was a sports encyclopedia, particularly with the New York Yankees and New York Giants.  There wasn’t a game for either sport that he missed on the radio and then later TV.

Red is best remembered for his laugh, his love of life (and sports), his kindness, his big heart, his endless love of his many friends and most of all, his love of and devotion to his family. Calling hours for Red will be held on Wednesday, June 10 from 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. His Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Westfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield.
