Theodore Joseph “Teddy’ Kowal, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the age of 85, at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Northampton, MA to the late John F. and Catherine (Callahan) Kowal on August 5, 1940. Teddy was predeceased by two brothers, John and James, and three sisters, Thelma, Kathleen and Barbara. Teddy proudly served in the Army from 1957 to 1960 and 1961 to 1962, when he was recalled by President Kennedy. On October 2, 1961, he married the love of his life, Roberta Kowal, and together they adopted two children, Catherine E. Johnson (Robert) and Matthew J. Kowal. Teddy leaves his adored grandson, Mason J. Kowal, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be at Firtion Adams Funeral Home at 76 Broad St, Westfield, MA on Monday, August 3, from 4-7 pm. The funeral will be held at the Southwick Congregational Church, 488 College Highway, Southwick, MA on Tuesday, August 4 at 11 am, with a reception to follow in New Hall. A private burial service will take place at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA at a later date.
