Thomas F Mahar

Thomas Francis Mahar, Jr., 92, of Bethesda, MD, passed away on April 25, 2021. Tom was born on August 12, 1928 to Thomas F. Mahar and Florence Karnes in Mount Carmel, PA. After graduating high school, Tom served for three years in the Army Air Force. Tom met Katherine Pilon, and they wed on June 26, 1954 and were happily married for 67 years. After graduating from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, he went on to earn his Masters at Yale in the School of Engineering. Tom worked as a systems engineer at IBM. Tom is survived by his wife Kathy Mahar, brother-in-law Ernest Pilon, brothers William Mahar and Robert Mahar, and five nieces and nephews: William, Michael, James, Maureen and Joseph. The funeral will be held on Wednesday May 5th at 10 am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service and 11 am at St. Mary’s Church, Bartlett Street, Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
