Virginia (Gina) Fontanilles, 77, of Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center with family by her side. Born on September 19, 1948, in Washington, D.C., Gina lived a life filled with love, creativity, and devotion to her family.
Gina earned her associate degree from Holyoke Community College and went on to work for many years as an administrative assistant there, where she was admired for her dedication and kindness. After retirement, she enjoyed spending her days surrounded by family, her beloved dogs and the simple joys of life.
She had a passion for the outdoors, often camping, visiting farmers markets, and trips with family. At home, she found joy in sewing, embroidery, and crafting. Her baking brought warmth to family gatherings, and she will be remembered for her laughter, love of playing cards, and being the heart of every holiday celebration.
Gina is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cyndi and Andy Fillion; her sons, Eric Fontanilles and Matt Fontanilles, and daughter-in-law, Michelle Fontanilles. She was a cherished Nana and great grandmother to Katelynn, Alex, Morgan, Marcus, Devon, Joslyn, and Kayla.
She will be remembered always for her generosity, humor, and the way she brought people together.
A memorial service will be held, with a celebration of Gina’s life on Tuesday September 30, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 at Firtion-Adams Funeral Home at 76 Broad St Westfield, Ma.
