Walter Tomala Sr. Obituary

Walter J Tomala Sr., 73, of Westfield MA passed away on August 3, 2020 in the loving arms of his wife Josephine (Benjamin) Tomala. He was born in Holyoke MA to Stanley & Irene (Barree) Tomala whom had 7 children. He is predeceased by his brothers Stan & George but leaves behind his sisters Faith, Hope, Charity & Cheryl. Walt graduated Holyoke Trade (1964) and study at HCC, Porter Chester and received multiple certifications. He proudly served his country in the Army with the 3rd Infantry & Honor Guard. He worked as a quality engineer at Digital before starting TNT General Contracting, a family business with his son. Family was the most important thing to Walt. He is predeceased by his daughter Christina and leaves behind 2 sons Walter Jr. & Timothy Tomala along with 2 Grandchildren Lauren & William Tomala all of whom he considered his greatest accomplishments. His passion for family extended to all 72 of his nieces and nephews, and all of their children. He made certain to let each of them know how important they were when he saw them. His love of people didn’t stop at blood relatives only. He’s know as Coach Tomala, at FunTime Lanes where he taught candlepin bowling and was active with the Westfield Little League. He was passionate about helping other and was heavily involved with the Make A Wish foundation. He was a black belt in Kungfu and loved to sing and dance. He was and always will be the life of the party. His greatest gift was the ability to bring others happiness and to make all he met feel truly welcome and safe. As he watches from above I’m sure he is grateful for and has fond memories of all of you. Services will take place at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery on August 20, 2020 at 2 PM. A celebration of life will take place on June 11, 2021 once he sends down the cure for Covid so everyone can be together again.
