Barbara J. (Crosby) Graham

September 12, 1911 ~ April 22, 2016 (age 104) 104 Years Old

Barbara Janet (Crosby) Graham, 104, passed peacefully, April 22, 2016 in a local nursing home.  She was born in Somerville, Ma. on September 12, 1911 to the late Vance and Sarah (Howard) Crosby of Arlington, Ma.  Barbara was raised in Arlington and received her Secretarial Degree in Boston where she worked for many years before meeting her late husband, John “Roundy” Graham while he was attending Bently College.  Barbara was a lifelong advocate for the humane society and many other animal support groups. Likewise she volunteered for years at the Church of Atonement’s Strawberry Festival.  Barbara took great joy in raising her family, was an avid reader and loved anything that had to do with medicine. She managed to maintain her sense of humor and her ability to entertain throughout her latter years in spite of her advanced hearing and eyesight loss. She will be dearly missed by her sister Dorothy Anders of Miami, Fl., her son, Peter and his wife Connie Graham of South Windsor, Ct., her daughter Nancy and her husband, Michael Stolpinski and her daughter Betsy and her husband, Bill Storozuk all of this city. Barbara leaves her grandchildren – Robert, Jeff, Jonathan, Matthew, Katelyn, Jessica and Valerie and her great grandchildren Abby, Tyler and Katelyn. She will also be missed by her dear friends Renee Cyran, Vera and Bobby Lake and the wonderful staff & CNA’s at Mt. St Vincent along with Savi, Judy, Alsidia, Deb and Bette at the Redstone Nursing Center. Their love, kindness and respect was greatly appreciated by Barbara. The funeral will be handled by Firtion-Adams Funeral Home and will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 34 Lower Westfield Rd., Holyoke, Ma. 01040 or to Barbara’s favorite charity the Westfield Homeless Cat Project, 1124 E. Mountain Rd. or to the Humane Society.
