Welcome to the memorial page for

Robert C. Mailloux

March 25, 1950 ~ January 6, 2017 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Sometimes, you explore the world in tedium, only to find a remarkable gem. To those who knew him, Robert C. Mailloux was that gem, a man who cast a quiet and dignified brilliance. On January 6, 2017, Robert’s brilliancy sadly went out. Born on March 25, 1950 to Robert H. and Madeleine Mailloux, Robert was gifted in both sports and academics. He excelled in the sciences, baseball, soccer and competitive archery. His dedicated nature led him to earn the status of Eagle Scout, the Boy Scouts of America’s highest achievement. Robert attended Westfield State University (WSU) in Westfield, MA., where he met his future wife of over 44 years, Pamela E. Kowalec. Robert’s allegiance to WSU did not end with his B.S. in Science and Education in 1972, or his M.Ed. in Education Administration in 1979. Upon graduating in 1972, Robert accepted a position in the University’s Media Services Department and never left. He remained true to WSU over the course of a 40-year service, finally retiring in 2012 as the Director of Educational Technology. His unshakable fidelity afforded him the status of ‘University Staff Emeritus,’ an honor received by only an esteemed few. Robert reveled in bonding with his grandchildren and wintering in Florida. He enjoyed good company and fine glass of scotch. He always enriched in his children’s lives and loved his wife unconditionally. Robert is survived by his wife, Pamela Mailloux; daughter Rebecca Lannon and husband Hugh, son Timothy Mailloux and wife Randi, and son Christopher Mailloux and wife Carly; father, Robert H. Mailloux; siblings, Roberta LaJoie, Constance Breault, Edward Mailloux and Joseph Mailloux; grandchildren, Nichlaus, Cameron, Zachary, Cody, Ellie, Abigail and Laney. Robert’s brilliancy is not truly gone—it is simply more latent now, and now, like he, it watches over us, shines down on us, and remains above us just so—to illuminate us and to guide us—a hair length’s away—hidden in the rafters, out of sight. Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 10, 5:00pm to 8:00pm, at Firtion Adams Funeral home in Westfield, MA. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, at 9AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass at 10:00am at Blessed Sacrament Church, Holyoke Rd. Westfield. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield. In lieu of gifts, please make donations in Robert’s name to The Amyloidosis Foundation: www.amyliodosis.org 1-877-269-5643. We love you, Bob. May your brilliance guide your way to the next phase of what has been a truly remarkable life.
