Donald Ouimet Donald E. Ouimet, 100, who served the City of Westfield in a wide variety of volunteer roles, over a career spanning more than six decades, died August 30, 2019. Ouimet was born in Easthampton, May 14, 1919, and educated in Easthampton schools. He attended Northampton Commercial College and received a certificate in Business Management & Marketing. He was employed for many years by Stanley Home Products of Westfield, retiring in 1980 as a buyer and premium manager. He continued to serve the company, for several years after retirement, as a liaison between William Tower, President of Stanley Home Products and the City of Westfield. Ouimet’s real love was volunteerism and he was heavily involved in many city committees and organizations over the course of his career and beyond. Ouimet was the longest serving member of the Kiwanis Club of Westfield, which he joined in 1952. He was president of the club 1964-1965 and was an advisor and confidant to every club president who followed. Ouimet was a holder of Kiwanis’s Tablet of Honor, Legion of Honor and Walter Zeller Fellowship award and was recognized in 2006 with the club’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also honored by the Westfield Rotary Club with the Paul Harris Fellowship. Ouimet helped Found and was a past president of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Westfield, where he served as director and was placed on the club’s Wall of Fame in 2004. He was the last surviving member of a study team that led to the chartering of the Westfield Chamber of Commerce, an organization of which he would serve as a director and president 1968 and 1973. Ouimet took pride in being one of the founding fathers of the Westfield State College Foundation 1 / 2 and in the many volunteer boards and committees, of which he was a part, over the years. Donald leaves his wife, of 72 years, Rose Petrucelli Ouimet and many nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 PM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd. Westfield. Visiting hours will precede the service from 11-12:30PM in the funeral home.
