James P. Marcyoniak, 82, a life-long resident of Westfield passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 11, 2018 after a courageous batter with cancer. Born in Westfield on September 14, 1935 to the late Ladislawa (Korzeniecki) and Frank Marcyoniak was a graduate of Westfield Trade School of 1952 and a US Army Veteran which served in the Korean War. James was predeceased by his wife Terese M. (Robienciezak) who died in October, 2017. A loving and caring father, grandfather and father in-law, he will be sadly missed by his sons James P. of Springfield and Todd J. and wife Vonnie (Yvonne) of Westfield, and their two sons Evan of Feeding Hills, and Alex of Westfield who greatly adored and loved him and fondly referred to him as "Pops" . James is also survived by his twin brother Thomas of Westfield and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceases by 11 brothers and sisters. He retired from Conrail as an Equipment Operator and also retired from the City of Westfield as well. James was a self-made mechanic and could fix almost anything. He had a love for the outdoors and greatly enjoyed planting his garden every year and was known for his great tomatoes and cucumbers. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing when we wasn't watching his grandchildren's sporting events. James also enjoyed any local baseball games which he could find during the summer. He was also a big fan of UConn Women's basketball. The family wishes to thank everyone at the Governor's Center in Westfield for their compassion and loving care of James over the past 3 weeks and countless others for their support. Calling hours will be Thursday, Sept. 20th, 4-7pm. at Firtion-Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St., Westfield. Liturgy of Christian Burial Mass will be held Friday, Sept. 21st at 1:15 pm at St. Mary's Church, Westfield. Burial will be held immediately following at 3pm at Veteran s Cemetery in Agawam.
