Carole A. Thornton, 79, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Baystate Medical Center with family by her side. She was born in Sheffield, MA on September 12, 1942, the youngest of ten children to the late Russell and Lillian (Fitzgibbons) Curtiss. Carole was employed by Old Colony Envelope for over 24 years, retiring in 2004. She was a huge Elvis fan and loved her family bringing her to tribute shows. Carole enjoyed dancing with her late husband, traveling with her daughters, Denise and Ronda, and attending family gatherings. She also loved taking walks and enjoyed the sun on her face. Her smile and laughter were contagious to all that knew her. Carole was predeceased by her devoted husband, Ronald E. Thornton, and dear son, James LaFreniere. Also predeceased, her beloved siblings, Dorothy Johnston, Mary Osborne, Kathleen Hickey, Donald Curtiss, Robert Curtiss and Richard Curtiss. She leaves behind her loving children, Deborah A. LaFreniere of Massachusetts, Jay Harris of Southwick, John LaFreniere of Westfield, Denise Sneade and her husband Donald of Rome, GA and Ronda Miller and her husband Christopher of Westfield. Survived by her sisters, who she dearly loved, Anna Leffingwell of Great Barrington, Marjorie Kirschner of Great Barrington and Joan Dean of Falls Village, CT. Her cherished grandchildren Kelly, Steven, Kate, Gregory, Jessica, Michael, John Ryan, Tanner, Kristina, Adam, Samantha, Timothy and eighteen beautiful great- grandchildren will miss her dearly. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7 PM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085. A Committal Service will be held on Friday at 2PM in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. Agawam, MA.
