Donald E. Mesick

Donald E. Mesick, 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Westfield to the late Norman and Katherine (McGrath) Mesick. Don served his country in the United States Army from 1956-1958 and in the Army National Guard from 1958-1961 as a radio operator and attaining the rank of Specialist 4th Class. He worked as a computer operator for 19 years for INA and as the receiving manager for Ames Department Store for 17 years before he retired. Don enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, drawing and collecting civil war miniatures. He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley A. (Ashline) Mesick of Westfield, his two loving sons, Kyle P. Mesick and his wife Wendy of Maryland and Kevin A. Mesick of Westfield and his cherished grandchildren, Madeline, Paige and Max. He was predeceased by four sisters, Catherine Clark, Marjorie DeRock, Norma Davis and Dorothy Leavitt and his brother Francis Mesick. Don’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 11AM in the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield. Visiting hours will precede the service from 9-11AM in the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date. www.firtionadams.com
