Elaine Ruth (Lewis) Hewins

Elaine R. (Lewis) Hewins, 88, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Barre, VT to the late Melburn A. and Florence G. (Martin) Lewis, and was a 1947 graduate of West Springfield High School. Elaine was a member of Second Congregational Church, where she volunteered for many committees, was a Deacon, worked with the Junior PF’s, and was former vice president of the Highland Group. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Charles A. Hewins, Sr. in 1981, brothers, Francis Lewis, Floyd Lewis, Winston Ellenwood, Gerald Ravelin, and Melburn Lewis, and sisters, Lorraine Allen, Beverlee Zerra, Norma Palmer, and Geraldine Peebles. Elaine is survived by her loving children, Brenda J. Hewins of Westfield, Charles A. Hewins, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Westfield, Kevin J. Hewins and his wife Jackie of New Milford, CT, Brian D. Hewins of Westfield, and Wayne A. Hewins of Westfield. She also leaves her grandchildren, Kimberly A. Hewins of Westfield, Christopher C. Hewins of Quincy, Lindsey J. Kilhart and her husband Kolby of Westfield, Amy E. Hewins of Westfield, Raymond Morse and Nicholas Morse, both of New Milford, CT, two great grandchildren, Brantley and Tyler, her brother, John “Jack” Lewis of Pennsylvania, her sister, Donna Vella and her husband Salvatore of Westfield. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10 AM in Second Congregational Church, 487 Western Ave. Westfield, MA 01085, followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 5-8 PM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085.
