Ellen M. (Wolfers) Ruban

Ellen M. (Wolfers) Ruban, 97, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Governor’s Center in Westfield. She was born in Hallschlag, Germany and was baptized Ellen Maria Ilse and raised in Koln am Rhein, Germany. She worked for Aetna Life and Casualty in Hartford, CT for over 25 years as an F.M. Technician before she moved to Massachusetts. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westfield, MA, a member of the Springfield Turnverein in Feeding Hills and a member of the Aetna Life and Casualty Women’s Club in Hartford, CT. She was predeceased by her husband Fedor Ruban, to whom she was married for 60 years, before his death in 2007 and her sister Margot Damarowski. She will be missed by her two daughters, Karen Maria Pirog and her husband Gregory of Westfield and Margarete McCarroll of Michigan, two grandsons, Brian McCarroll and Sean McCarroll and his wife Devan and their sons, Harrison James and Anderson Fedor. She also leaves her niece Ellen, and many cousins in Germany and Switzerland. There will be no formal calling hours. The funeral with burial in St. John’s Cemetery will be at the convenience of her family. Her family would like to thank the staff at Governor’s Center for the compassionate care given to Ellen and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ellen’s name may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 60 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085 or to the American Cancer Society, 59 Bobala Rd. #2, Holyoke, MA 01040.
