Janice S. (Sikes) Schermerhorn

Janice S. (Sikes) Schermerhorn, 89, peacefully passed Monday morning at Wingate Nursing Home in West Springfield. She was predeceased by her husband Robert T. Schermerhorn on October 15, 1988. She leaves her daughter, Robyn L. and her son-in-law, Paul R. Sadowski of Agawam. Janice was predeceased by her sister, Beverly Hillenbrand and leaves her siblings, Geraldine Larabee of Montgomery, MA, Gerry Sikes of Russell, MA, and Allan Sikes of Glastonbury, CT and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Before Alzheimer’s took over, Janice had been active with events at Agawam Congregational Church, Agawam Senior Center and the Melha Shrine. She loved sports, watching the Red Sox, and going to hockey games. She also enjoyed traveling and had participated in the senior Olympics. A Graveside Service will held on Friday at 1PM in Pine Hill Cemetery, Western Ave. Westfield. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Shriners Hospital, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
