John F. Leonard

WESTFIELD – John Francis Leonard passed away on January 18, 2019.  He was born in Waltham, MA on Sept 25, 1931.  John was a successful salesman in the trucking industry. John loved to fish and play golf.   While serving in the military and stationed in Germany, John played soccer and won the USAREUR Championship. He is survived by his son-in-law David Dobek, his two grandsons Mitchell and Mark Dobek, and his beloved dog Maxine.  He was predeceased by wife Mary Ann and his daughter Carrie.  He was proud of his grandson’s academic achievements and could always be found at their tennis matches or hockey games cheering them on whether it was at their high school or college matches.  A mass will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 10:30 in St. Mary’s Church.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held the morning before the mass at Firtion-Adams Funeral Services, 76 Broad Street, Westfield from 9:00 to 10:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, Westfield, or the Homeless Cat Project, 1124 East Mountain Road, Westfield, Ma 01085.
