John A Merola Jr.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John A. Merola Jr, 73, of Westfield, on Monday March 22nd 2021. Born in Springfield, John was the son of the late John Sr and Jennie Merola and brother to his late sister, Janet Phoenix. He graduated from Technical HS in Springfield and went on serve his country in the US Army. He was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War and after being discharged from the service he married the love of his life, Mary Lou, "supposedly" for her property on Otis Reservoir. They then moved to Westfield and raised two children, John III and Jennifer. He worked over 40 years for the United States Postal Service before retiring. John spent his retirement enjoying tending to his many different gardens in the yard as well as spending time birdwatching or in his pool. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou (72), son John III (45), daughter Jennifer (40), and family-in-spirit Rachel (37) and Riley Button (11).
