Marcia Daly

Marcia Van der Wolk Daly, 67, of Westfield, Massachusetts, passed away on February 4, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Joseph Daly. Born July 25, 1953 in Springfield, MA to Donald Van der Wolk and Betty (Moynihan) Van der Wolk, Marcia leaves behind children, Kathleen Daly of Westfield, MA and John Daly of Medford, MA, as well as a sister, Deborah van der Wolk and her husband Harold Williams of Fernandina Beach, FL and Nantucket, MA; brother, Christopher Van der Wolk and his wife Amy of Nantucket, MA; a brother-in-law, John Daly of Westfield, MA and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers Peter and Jon Van der Wolk and sister-in-law Rosemary Daly Pniak. Marcia graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield, MA in 1971 and Westfield State College in Westfield, MA in 1975, successfully pursuing a career as a graphic artist. Her colorful career included several years as an artist and manager at Valley Graphics in Holyoke, MA and artist/store manager at the T-Shirt Station in West Springfield, MA. The highlight of her career--for which she developed a stellar national reputation as both an accomplished artist and businesswoman--was 31 years as Executive Art Director of the American radio and television industry trade publication Talkers magazine, based in Longmeadow, MA. In this capacity she worked closely with some of the biggest names in the talk show industry on their art, logos and advertising campaigns, and was widely respected for her tremendous talent and reputation for kindness. A dedicated member of Blessed Sacrament Church, in Westfield, Marcia actively volunteered with both the Soup Kitchen and Take & Eat. A cat lover, gourmet cook and baker, and a huge fan of crime dramas, she made friends everywhere she went and had a positive impact on everyone she met. A Funeral Mass will be held for Marcia on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 11 AM in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Rd, Westfield.
