Robert A. Vogel

Robert A. Vogel, 71, passed away on October 2, 2018 at Loomis House in Holyoke. He was born in Springfield to the late Arthur D. and Shirley M. (Miller) Vogel and was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School. Bob furthered his education by receiving two degrees from STCC, his undergraduate degree from WNEC and his MBA from AIC. Robert served his country with the United States Navy from 1966-1970 during Vietnam. He attained the rank of IC2 and received the National Defense Service Medal. He was a youth soccer coach in Westfield and was a Weblos scout master. Bob loved golf and the ocean, he and his wife spent eight years of retirement in Murrell’s Inlet, SC. He also began painting beautiful pictures in his retirement. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Susan A. (Strackbein) Vogel of Westfield, his two children, Jennifer S. Sparks and her husband Christopher and Daniel R. Vogel and his wife Erica, all of Westfield, MA, his cherished grandchildren, Sarah Mendez and her husband Joshua, Rebecca Rouse with Nick Brill and Alexander Sparks, his 2 great-grandsons, Anthony and Elijah, all of Westfield, his brother Richard Vogel and his wife Delia of Petersham, MA, his sister Judith Reynolds and her husband Alan of Agawam, MA, several nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog Laci Lu Lu. He was predeceased by a sister Lynn Arsenault in 2003. Visiting hours for Bob will be held on Wednesday from 4-7PM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield. Burial with Military Honors will be held on Thursday at 3PM in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. Agawam, MA. The family would like to thank Bob’s caregiver and friend, Carol Ruszala and the staff at the Loomis House in Holyoke for their exemplary care during his final days.
