Walker J. Burns, Jr., 89, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 14, 2020 at Agawam Healthcare. He was born in Montclair, NJ to the late Mildred (Tompkins) and Dr. Walker J. Burns, Sr. He served his country in the United States Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War from 1951-1953, attaining the rank of Corporal and receiving three bronze service stars. Walker was a graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He was employed by various divisions of the United Technologies Corporation and the Millers Falls Tool Company and retired in 1991. Walker loved sailing, spending time on the water with his family in Cold Spring Harbor on Long Island and Lake Champlain in northern Vermont. He loved sports cars especially MGs and Austin Healeys. Walker was a member of the Westfield YMCA and a bronze medalist in badminton at the Senior Olympics in San Antonio in 1995. Walker was predeceased by a daughter Kimberlee Dawn in 1963 and his sister Elizabeth Robinson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, June Dee Burns of Westfield, two loving sons, Walker J. Burns III and his wife Jennifer Tate of Ivoryton, CT, and Drew Burns and his wife Sue of Easton, PA, and his four cherished grandchildren Josiah, Isaac, Andrew and Margaret. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 1-3 PM at the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St., Westfield, MA.
